Got back a little while ago from doing the beginning sketches of my first from-life portrait commision. A man here in Lawrence is having me furry-ize his wife as a birthday present to her. Much yayness for being paid to make art!! And even better, they fed us (Rob was there too).. And fed us WELL. Skewered seasoned shrimp cooked over the grill, fetuccini alfredo, field greens salad, garlic bread AND apple tart tatin with vanilla ice cream. Yum~yum!! Tonight consisted of me having her pose and sketching her exactly as she is.. I'll derive from that the features I feel most make her her, and then combine them with her chosen animal- the domestic cat. The finished piece'll be on 9X12 bristol board, inked and brought to life with Prismacolor pencils. Hope they both like it lots when I show 'em the final piece..!!

Yo Shan, that's rad!! I'm so glad your artwork is becoming so successful.

I have some awesome news about JUST THAT!! I decided that I wanted to produce an art show a few weeks ago and the gears started turning. Ultimately, after a great deal of effort and ignoring the naysayers; I have produced an art show!

Do you remember Bill, the owner of the Victory Brewing Company? i was able to convince him to let us have a show in his restaurant, which is of course, built onto the bar and brewery. He himself was a Tyler grad in graphic art! How amazing is that!?!? His restaurant and bar staff will operate as normal, so I pretty much have free catering!! YAAAAH!!!! I mean, people have to pay for their drinks and stuff, but I'd never have that option in a gallery!

The show is slated for Wednesday, September 7th. the Friday beforehand is FIRST FRIDAY. We'll be promoting in Philly and West Chester to all the wealthy art patrons. Cha chingy!

We ave an open invite ut to any Tyler grads that want to be in the show, and we have a few responses so far. I'm also inviting some of the most famous local artsts to come and show. It will be good to having my work haning next to a famous and established artist, non??

2005 is turning out to be a pretty awesome year for both of us. I wish you continued luck in your art, Shan- keep it up!!! WOOO!!! Artists-HOOOOOO (you have to say that in a Thundercats Lion-O voice) I'll definitely send you all the flyers and postcards we make. And hey- if you're near Downingtown this Sept, yo're more than welcome to show your stuff.

Talk to you soon!

yay for work, food and being paid for what you love!!

Great news, cannot WAIT to see it!!

Caroline started tattooing (see here devianart site) and is loving it...she is up to 5 or 6 tattoos, i truly cant belive how good they look, she DEF has a knack. So yay for all the artists getting dowing what they love XD

And luckly, as it turns out, Matt has no gigs in September (their drummer is touring with a diffrent band in Europe...lucky bastard) so he will be able to come with and you can meet him too.
